Cumbria
The Lake District, Herdwick sheep, William Wordsworth, ancient stone henges, gorgeous lake-after-lake, amazing hiking trails, the tallest mountain in England, Hadrian’s Wall, friendly pubs and tons of B & Bs. It’s no wonder over fifteen million people visit this northwesterly part of England each year. At times, the mountainous land is rugged. At other times, it’s a lovely glide of picturesque farms dotted with sheep. Beautiful Cumbria.
Here is a lovely, 1-minute video featuring a top-10 look at Cumbria’s many attractions. This is a wonderful, 4-minute video that features some breathtaking footage of Cumbria. Though it’s primarily about cycling through this part of the UK, seeing the vistas from a cyclist’s point-of-view is a terrific way to enjoy the beauty of this land. This 25-minute video, by Rick Steves, covers The Lake District, Hadrian’s Wall and Durham.

Above all: Live the fang!!!
Staying in a B&B in Cumbria would be a really nice vacation. I’d also like to see Hadrian’s Wall and check out some of the castles!
Beautiful thank you. Loving the woolly sheep.
Love the beautiful pictures and enjoyed watching the videos. I would love to go to Cumbria to visit and do some hiking.
Would love to visit the castles and Cathidrals. The history between those walls – wow. Enjoyed the videos and pictilures.
What beautiful scenery. The cathedral reminds me of Notre Dame’s burning. 🙁 The countryside is peaceful. A stay in a B and B would indeed be enjoyable.
Castles, LOVE them
Castles…YES I want one. Thank you!!
Such wonderful sights. I really enjoyed the videos. My friend from England has talked of being at Hadrian’s Wall. Lovely blogs this week.
Beautiful photos. I love the stone house on the village street, the sailboats, and the tree shaded lane. I would so enjoy a visit. Strangely enough, the photos make me feel at home.
Wonderfully beautiful photos of the countryside. The photo of the inside of the cathedral is fantastic. I would love to live there and see all the beauty of the countryside. Lush, green vistas are special to me because I now live in NM and rarely do we see green fields.
Just beautiful! Enjoyed the videos and would love to visit there. Beautiful scenery, and would love to see Hadrian’s Wall in person. So much to see and would love to stay in a B&B to see it all!! AZ
Beautiful. I love the stone buildings.
Love these pictures of castles.
Beautiful place
I am from Virginia I have never been to England. Loved all the pictures and would love to visit the castles. I would love to feel a woolly sheep. Thanks for the chance
Loved the pictures! What a beautiful place.
How peaceful looking it all seems!
I’d just love to live in a castle but would hate to see the heating and cooling bills.
Have always wanted to visit Hadrian’s Wall. One English teacher told me to remember 1066. I still do.
denise from maryland
They’re too cute :).
What a beautiful place. I love tree lined streets.
Another part of England that is so pretty and interesting. Learned a lot about that part of the world this week.
Would love to visit, Beautiful place
Everything is so beautiful and it would be so peaceful to be in the mountains.
so pretty
I do want to go to England.
Yummy cover! And the pictures of Cumbria are beautiful as well. Thanks for sharing.
I have read a bout England all my life and I would love to visit. I love castles, the mores and everything England.
I’ve said many times that England is on my bucket list of places I would love to tour.
I truly believe I have to make several trips because there’s no way I could see everything I want to see.
I wouldn’t mind going several times but my wallet would have a nervous breakdown.
I especially want to tour all the grand estates like I see on TV documentaries.
Oh, and like the aerial view shows on TV.
